Lead Speech Language Pathologist
Abbey is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. She received a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from West Virginia University. She received her Master’s degree in Communication Disorders at University of South Carolina. Abbey is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Abbey is the Lead Speech Language Pathologist for Tri-County Therapy’s West Ashley Office. She has over 10 years of experience working with children ages 3-12 and specializes in language delays and articulation and phonology disorders. Abbey is Level 1 trained in PROMPT, which is a hands-on tactile-kinesthetic input approach to treating motor speech disorders.
Abbey is a PROMPT-Trained Speech Language Pathologist and has completed the Introduction to PROMPT Technique Workshop. The PROMPT technique involves using a tactile-kinesthetic approach that includes touch cues to a patient’s articulators (jaw, tongue, lips) to manually guide them through a targeted word, phrase or sentence.
Abbey has a passion for working with preschool aged children with phonology disorders. In her spare time, Abbey enjoys spoiling her dog Piper, yoga, and cooking healthy meals.
