Speech Language Pathologist
Lauren graduated from the University of Louisville in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education, with a focus in severe-profound disabilities. She then continued her studies at the University of Louisville and earned her Master of Science in Communicative Disorders in 2017. She worked in a non-profit pediatric clinic for almost two years prior to beginning her role at Tri-County Therapy. Lauren is certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Lauren has experience serving children with dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, genetic and chromosomal disorders, dysphagia, and feeding disorders. She also has clinical experience and training in infant feeding disorders, tethered oral tissues, and latch difficulties. Her clinical interests include assessment and intervention of feeding difficulties in the infant and pediatric population. Lauren strives to serve as an advocate for her clients and families, as well as to serve as a coach in guiding parents and caregivers through therapeutic approaches that can be utilized at home.
Lauren is a PROMPT-Trained Speech Language Pathologist and has completed the Introduction to PROMPT Technique Workshop. The PROMPT technique involves using a tactile-kinesthetic approach that includes touch cues to a patient’s articulators (jaw, tongue, lips) to manually guide them through a targeted word, phrase or sentence.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her one-eared cat, Mary, doing yoga, and exploring her new home of Charleston. She will be marrying her best friend, Stephen, in June 2019!
