Speech Language Pathologist
Maria attended Calvin College in Michigan for her Bachelor of Arts (Speech Pathology and Audiology) as well as her Master of Arts (Speech Language Pathology). While completing her master’s degree, she conducted research and wrote a master’s thesis on how autistic individuals understand complex language. Maria is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and South Carolina Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Maria previously worked as an SLP for three years for the School District of Oconee County. Her clinical experience with the pediatric population includes the following areas: articulation, phonology, and childhood apraxia of speech; receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language; augmentative and alternative communication; and fluency. Maria enjoys keeping up with the latest research and treatment techniques to provide the best possible therapy for her clients. She loves this field of work and is passionate about improving children’s communication skills.
Maria moved to South Carolina in 2018 and has enjoyed getting to know the area. She particularly appreciates the warmer winters! In her spare time, she loves rock climbing, hiking, reading, and traveling.
