Melissa is from Aiken, SC. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with her bachelors of science in exercise science. She received her doctorate in occupational therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Tampa, Florida. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association as well as the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association. Melissa completed her doctoral residency assisting young adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities with the transition from adolescences to adulthood by gaining independent living skills, community mobility skills, work skills, and social skills through post-secondary education.
Melissa chose to pursue a career in occupational therapy because of her passion for helping others. Even though Melissa has found interest in many different occupational therapy settings, she feels that her heart is constantly pulled to the pediatric population. Melissa plans to continue her education in the areas of sensory integration, feeding difficulties, early intervention, developmental delays, and neurological disorders.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her soon to be husband, their dog, family, and friends. She spends as much time as she can exploring Charleston, going to the beach, running, biking, and anything that involves being outside.
