Shelby is from North Carolina and was raised in the small town of Oak Ridge, just outside the city of Greensboro. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies at UNC Chapel Hill (go Heels!), while minoring in Hispanic Studies alongside of that. Throughout her time in undergraduate, she pursued extracurriculars working with medically fragile children and adults, as well as integrating her love for art at the same time.
Once she discovered the profession of occupational therapy, she knew it was the perfect profession for her to share her passion for all things creative and working hands-on with those in need. She received her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina, and ever since then knew Charleston would be her new home.
Throughout her schooling, her love for working with pediatric patients has continued to deepen, as she volunteered in a pro-bono therapy clinic, a mobile medical clinic across the globe, a local Soccer Shots program, two constraint induced movement therapy camps, and more. She enjoys learning about relevant and evidence-based services, and she is driven to provide compassionate based care to her patients, a topic she learned about through the MUSC Compassion in Action Leadership Program.
Shelby is a part of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association. Her areas of interest continue to grow, but some of her passions include feeding difficulties, trauma informed care, and sensory processing needs.
Her free time is filled with spending time outdoors, seeing friends and family, and loving on her two pets. She is so excited to be a part of the TCT team and provide services to patients across the West Ashley community.
