Alaura is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who graduated from the University of Hawai’i with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and later graduated from the University of South Carolina-Columbia with a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Alaura recently relocated to the Charleston area from Hickory, NC, where she worked in a variety of settings including: skilled nursing, hospital (outpatient, rehab, and acute care), home health, assisted living, elementary and high schools, outpatient pediatric clinic, and early intervention services in homes and day cares. Alaura has a passion for working with children, and loves the amount of energy, flexibility, and creativity that is needed to make learning fun! Alaura is trained in PROMPT, which is a hands-on tactile-kinesthetic input approach to treating motor speech disorders. She also enjoys working with children with language disorders, articulation disorders, fluency disorders, augmentative communication needs, and feeding difficulties.
Alaura enjoys spending free time outdoors with her husband, 5 children, and dog, hiking, biking, or relaxing on the beach.
