Alexandra Shaw, CCC-SLP

Alex was born and raised in Jefferson Hills, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA, with her 7 siblings. 4 of her siblings were diagnosed with various speech and language disorders. After seeing the positive impact that speech-language therapy had on her siblings, she decided to pursue a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. In 2013 and 2014, she graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating in 2014, Alex was certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and began her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Alex relocated to Florida in August 2014 and relocated to South Carolina in August 2017. She worked in 3 outpatient clinics, 8 public schools, 5 private schools, 3 charter schools and 10 preschools. She also worked as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist in public, private, and blended schools in Florida, Georgia, and Michigan in an online virtual school setting. During these experiences, Alex worked with children and adolescents diagnosed with various disorders including Articulation and Phonological Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Dysarthria, Cleft Lip and Palate, Fluency/Stuttering Disorders, Voice Disorders, Receptive-Expressive Language Disorders/Delays, Autism, Down Syndrome, Asperger’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Selective Mutism, Auditory Processing Disorders and Hearing Loss. Alex enjoys assisting children, adolescents and their families who are diagnosed with a wide range of speech-language disorders achieve increased communication skills like her own siblings. Her special interests include treating children and adolescents with Articulation and Phonological Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Expressive Language Disorders/Delays and Fluency/Stuttering Disorders in outpatient and virtual settings. Alex strives to be an energetic, patient, and empathetic therapist who makes a positive difference in her clients’ and clients’ families’ lives.

During her free time, Alex loves spending time with her husband, Jake, her son, Liam, and her cat, Chimera. Jake and Alex were married on May 23, 2016 at St. Pete Beach, Florida. Liam was born on August 5, 2020 in Greenville, South Carolina. Chimera is a 6-year-old, Mancoon. Alex enjoys watching movies, playing board and card games, taking and editing photos, painting, traveling and swimming with her family and friends.
