Nuts and Bolts Matching

Nuts and Bolts Matching

The Nuts and Bolts Matching Game is great for development in all areas!

Articulation/Speech: The nuts and bolts matching game is a fun way to incorporate play into articulation exercises. You child can earn a nut or bolt as reinforcement within articulation activities. Have the child imitate various words and sounds and earn parts, and see how many sets he/she can make.

Language: Your child can learn colors and counting with these manipulatives. Have your child request desired blocks using 2-3 word sentences, as well as follow directions for positional concepts (put it on top, under, beside). Play a fun game and have the child follow multiple-step directions (put the red one by the door and the blue one in the chair). Teach shapes and matching, as well as concepts ‘on/off, right/left, loose/tight’.

Pragmatics: Turn-taking skills and joint attention.

Fine Motor/Visual Motor: Problems solving to twist and turn the nuts and bolts together builds grasping and manipulation skills. This will translate to increased independence opening containers and drink caps. Visual discrimination and visual motor skills are used to find the matching shapes and colors and fit them together.

Sensory: This is a fantastic toy for use in bath tubs, sand boxes, and sensory bins!

Gross Motor: A child can use the nuts/bolts to walk up/down stairs to screw together, during crab walks or during an obstacle course.
