Apraxia

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder caused when a child has difficulty sending messages from the brain to the mouth. The brain produces a message, but the child presents with lip, tongue, and/or jaw muscle coordination weaknesses that limit verbal production. Children with Apraxia of Speech do not follow typical patterns of speech development and often require intensive and frequent speech therapy services.
