Occupational Therapist
Juliana Keane, OTD, OTR/L
Juliana is originally from Sioux City, Iowa and recently moved to Charleston partially to escape the cold Midwest winters! Juliana earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development & Family Studies with a minor in Psychology at Iowa State University. She graduated in May 2023 from the University of South Dakota with her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy with a specialization in pediatric practice.
Juliana has significant experience working with children of all ages and their families. Most recently, she completed a 14-week rotation in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Des Moines, Iowa, where her passion for working with premature and/or medically fragile infants blossomed. During this time, she focused on hydrotherapy interventions and implemented a new infant motor assessment for premature infants. Ultimately, her career goal is to be a lead occupational therapist within the NICU setting.
Juliana has experience working with children and adolescents with varying abilities and diagnoses, including but not limited to: Down Syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, feeding difficulties, and general developmental and/or intellectual delays. She is also trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TRBI®), a trauma-informed care approach to therapy and highlights this as a crucial component to her work with children and families.
Outside of work, Juliana loves: traveling, golfing, exercising, spending time outdoors with family and friends, playing tennis, photography, the beach, interior decorating and HomeGoods, exploring new coffee shops and restaurants, and more.
